Sol Campbell
looks like a goer, he's getting married next month and has been told that if he signs he can miss our CL qualifiers if he signs.

Where you hear that?
Plus I would want him for the qualifiers where we need experience. And who is getting married to, jp?

Re: Sol Campbell
SPL wise he will be the best in the league, shows how bad our league is when the older generation can come in and walk it.

Re: Sol Campbell
35k a week is nothing for Campbell, if its true. Davie Weir was never at Campbells level, he's 5 years older and he's the best defender in scotland.

Re: Sol Campbell
Really hope this happens, Campbell will stroll the SPL and experience is something we are in dire need of.
Ideally if he was to sign he would be available for the first European games though.

as optimistic as i am about walking the SPL next season, i think we'll be watching europa league football again next season whether Campbell signs and plays in the qualifiers or not.

Re: Sol Campbell
What we're lacking is someone who commands and dominates at the back, who when going up for a 50-50 ball you know is most likely going to win it. Also someone who is good at one on one situations and is aware of what's going on around him.
IMO, we've not really had anyone like that since the days of Mjalby, Valgharen etc.
I'd love Sol Campbell to come to us.

Re: Sol Campbell
Would be the perfect signing, we need a blend of youth and experience. His presence at the back would ensure Thompson and Rogne have someone to learn from. He was motm against Spurs a couple of months ago, anyone that thinks he wouldn't do well for us and improve us dramatically needs to watch a different sport other than football.

Aye I would agree there mate but it would still be good to have him playing. I think we need to get suited to the Europa League for a few more years tbh as I cannae see us making the CL for a while.

Re: Sol Campbell
Arsenal almost always sign young players, the fact that they were willing to break that trend for him says it all really.

Power of agents will be at the World Cup for other clients so thats probably a stumbling block.
Not bothered about Europe, a good nostalgic run in the Europa would be Ok but the league is the bread and butter !
Re: Sol Campbell
bump.
any updates? i know his contract isn't up till the end of the month but we dont seem to be doing much to get him.

Re: Sol Campbell
He's waiting on Wenger returning from the World Cup to discuss his future. So I wouldn't expect to hear anything more on it for another 3 weeks or so.
